The Disciples of the Night is more than I expected. I so love and enjoy what you write. My mind and imagination is flipping all over, back and forth, round and round. You make me read, think and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!! I've had a great time reading and imagining with this book. Thanks, Etienne!!!

I so enjoyed reading your fourth book. Now that I’m done I’m already missing it. Your stories always ring true about fear, strength, memories, sadness, harmony, life and death. There is meaning and understanding - there are shadows and rainbows.
You tell and unbelievable tale! Congratulations!!

Your talent for writing exceeds words the word I might give it. Congrats, Etienne.

I love it, love it!!! Especially Chapter 22, page 286. Isidore eyed his captor: My turn to denigrate. "You're a dull accumulation of cells. A moraine lacking any credible degree of vegetative beauty has greater creative potential than the brain inside your skull." I've got to memorize this line! I know so many people I would love to say that to!! And I really love Page 425. "I come from that hallowed untouched space known as the Void. You know, where socks flee when they disappear from a clothes dryers."

Yahoo! Plenty of action, comedy and romance. I highly recommend the Etienne de Mendes series of novels if you’re a fan of the Phantom of the Opera.

Failed to meet friends at a movie – couldn’t put this book down. A hallmark novel in my opinion.

Mr. De Mendes skillfully weaves the two sub-plots together in this exciting book for the adult reader, which has plenty to action, political intrigue, and romance. I really enjoyed the book, and can't wait to see where all this is going.

In The Disciples of the Night you have created a story encompassing so many sensations and ideas, one I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. As Erik has his treasure of Khusrowshah, so do your readers (especially me) have yet another treasure from you that we can make our own. "Answer me. Who do you love, Christine?" "As the sun sets and the moon rises, only you Erik." What powerful and memorable lines.

I feel Erik is now on his way to becoming the matured, dominant Erik of your first two novels. It seemed for a second there, it would be 'adieu' but Christine's giving in surprised me. The treasure is his. I would not give it back and possibly she will change her mind and wear a jewel or two in the future. I was taken completely by surprise upon Torossian and Muustah-Veetnah’s entrance.

Truly addictive. After reading the other three books in the series I had high hopes for this one, since the last one left off on a cliffhanger. I was not disappointed. Once again Etienne has given us a tale of love, friendship, danger and excitement all rolled into one. With our favorite Phantom Erik just left scarred, he flees Christine and his creators to Persia to find the treasure he left behind, Torossian happily accompanying him. His flashbacks continue, and present the reader with more information about what happened there in the past. On top of all this, he had to smuggle a LOT of treasure out of a very poor, very secure country, outwit the government that has it out for him, and come to terms with his past self.

Back in France, Christine is left longing for Erik. She feels guilty for what happened to him, and is convinced that he isn't going to forgive her. If all the heartache is not enough, the Life Liberationists are still waiting to hunt down them all, and they bring an old acquaintance. Can they escape their determined clutches?

With vampires, our favorite hero, and a particularly funny rendition of "Do your ears hang low?" I could not recommend this book enough. I anxiously await the next in the series, and hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. Five Stars, and a new favorite.

I have really been counting the time to when you have the book ready to read. Please send me a signed copy! I am all “ATWITTER” about being mentioned in the dedication. Thank you so much. I can hardly wait to read about the rats using the telephone lines at night. It is creepy, but at the same time shows how intelligent the animals are getting. We humans do not give them (the “lower animals”) enough credit.

So excited the book is out now. I am going to Carlsbad Village Street Faire tomorrow hoping to get a copy. That is were I purchased the last three books. Can’t wait to read it! Sooo happy!! Thanks for your wonderful stories ?

I have read all three of your previous books and loved them! Read the first chapter of ‘Disciples’ last night and can't wait to read more. I love how it picks up and goes without a lot of rehashing of what came before.

I haven’t stopped bragging about this book and that my name is in the dedication! Yes, modesty has lost-out all around. Mary wants me to bring the first book back home from work so she can start reading your series, too! Wicked LOL.
Steven Pentecost

Author’s note to the Pentecost-Dude: If you give the book to your Mary, please tell her that these are graphic books for adults, and that I've worked extensively with US soldiers that had their faces/throats destroyed in combat. I firmly believe that human intimacy is a priority for us. I put it right up there with food-sleep-and safety issues. Soldiers (all people for that matter) don't fair well without touch and acceptance. Actually I think I'll put that in my blog today.

How wonderful…I’m glad everyone won the contest and I do truly appreciate receiving this wonderful honor. I am at work but got so excited…can’t wait to read The Disciples of the Night. Your books are the best!

I received the book with page saver (bookmark) and the second smaller package with the pin. Thank you so very much. I started reading it and can hardly put the book down. Thank you again!

My free time is limited but I have had time to reach the 2nd chapter since the festival. I must say I love the book and your writing style. Your writing is so vivid it gave me chill bumps. I look forward to reading the full collection.

I am already well into The Disciples of the Night. Not since Mary Stewart’s Merlin Trilogy have I been so enthralled by a character in a book. And with Erik, it passed enthralled ages ago. We have a lot in common, he and I, minus the killing, of course! So many of us wanted Erik to win and you created a magnificent life for him. For me, you provided the man I imagined Erik to be and you made the story believable. Your journey into the metaphysical was fascinating, but, then, I have made my own journey there. In this momentous year of 2012, I pray man begins to realize who he truly is and finally decides to use his knowledge for the good of all instead of the benefit of the few. It might take a miracle, but I believe in them, too. That would make a good story and the way you weave a tale, I’ll bet you could tell it like no other could. And, if the predictions are accurate and we are headed for a New Earth, I hope to see you there. Keep on writing!!
Janet

Thank you for all these amazing books, especially for this last edition! Please, never for one minute doubt that your novels are anything but the most amazing stories I’ve ever read. They’re full of gritty realism that bounces a reader from scene to scene! In this last book from France into modern Iran, then a catapult ride straight into ancient Persia. And chapter 34! Chapter 34! I stood there in the smoke, choking on air splattered with blood, and could barely swallow. You put me in another world altogether. Really excellent book.

What an amazing breath-taking way to introduce new characters and have the Erik of 2014 totally absorb the persona of the Phantom. Such originality of thought… I’ve never read a story that I hated to put down! This one topped them all.

I’ve read all your books, and they just keep getting better. Now when I go back and read Leroux’s original novel all the details make so much sense. The plot is so much richer.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Energetic, relentless, industrious, in short simply spectacular! I loved our heroes and totally despised the villains. Great entertainment! Thanks.
Natalie

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this last novel, Christine no longer suffers from torn loyalties. Now that she’s set her heart’s course, licked past superstitions, and her fear of “things that go bump in the dark”, she’s plagued by depression and anorexia. Such a vivid portrayal of a female’s evolution into a stronger more mature partner for Erik. I enjoyed every sentence.
Jess

Author’s note: Both Erik and Christine have a ways to go yet. More lies on the horizon.

I’m so happy to have won a copy of The Disciples of the Night! Thank you! All of the entries were great!

Dear Etienne, I am so very very happy, delighted and thrilled in fact, that you are finally getting your fourth book out. I am looking so forward to reading The Disciples of the Night. I will be waiting. Have a very happy, and a very scary Halloween!!

Author’s note: Don't have a release date yet. I'm contending with the artwork and the structure of certain sentences. Plots flow from my brain, but there's some effort in choosing words that read smoothly and say exactly what I mean. I promise there will be a fourth book and a fifth (the latter is already laid out). I'm looking to turn this manuscript soon.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stayed up all night reading this book (#3), it's got to be the best one yet. Oh my gosh, please don't leave it here. Whatever it takes, carry on.

I know it takes a lot out of you to produce these books, but please don't stop. They are awesome.

For the record, I'd like you to write another book... even if it's not Phantom based. Good luck!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am really anxious to read The Tale of the Bloodline, but you also have to try to make a promise that there will be more, more books to read. Please consider this, so I don't have to keep begging! Yes, sometimes I do have to put your books aside when I’m reading them, because I get upset. Now, that has to be a sign for something? Like a really good author? Correct? Your books are entertaining more than just a few of us. They are like pizza and those cinnamon thingamajigs from Domino's Pizza. With Cookie Dough ice cream for dessert!

Thanks for keeping me updated, I am so ready to get my hands on this third book and gobble it up. I'm glad to be one of your most sterling and longest fans. I appreciate your work and will never stop reading it, so please let the stories continue!
Stephanie

I am really looking forward to the next piece of the story, and I hope after this third book you will consider writing more books for the public. Not necessarily about the Phantom. You have a great knack for the love scenes, and the action scenes. Do say you’ll have more in store for us later.
